Studio Update Week 11

Group Discussion

We had a discussion on Monday night to go through what we have researched and found out. This is the information given by the rest of my group:

We also decide to make a survey to get more understanding of our user and reason for goin to the arcade. These are the questions in the survey

Insights from the different location

We also shared about the insights we got from the different location and how games are segment and how there are difference in the location due to size of the place.


Tuesday Lecturer Feedback

Overall, the teacher were satisfied with the research we had done. They talked about how the past was more about fighting games, with ginza players with different arcade players. It has completely changed now with less of a community in the arcade, with TImezone now more like a carnival. He advice that we segment my future trends research into forms of plays and forms of experience to better understand the data set. They also mentioned about that spectatorship is also another forms of experience that you see in the past and now with e-sport. With this in mind, the arcades of the past were design to stand out in the arcade so everyone who come to it. The lecturers also mentioned their own experience in Timezone and how to commemorate the trip with his daughter, there were photobooth to take their photos. They also suggested looking into local game developers as a way to localise the games. Now what we need to figure out is what our target audience are and how they play. How can we encourage interplay with them? In order to do this, we need to shadow the people who go to the arcade and find out how they play and socialise in the arcade


From there, we had to make a presentation summing up the information we have derive and consolidate into a 7 mind presentation.


Ideation on Solution

On Thursday, we did a brief discussion on what we wanted our solution to be. We wanted to focus our intention on trying to make the Experience more custom suited and personalise for he different user. We also thought that other ways we could attract customers would be through streaming. Streaming games has always been popular and now we do see people Do stream arcade games. We were also discussing the app and how it exist quite passively and not promoted that much. However by removing the certain top up options, they are subtling pushing users to use the app. But the app itself isn't the best and we think we could use it as a jumping off point to implement our solution. We were thinking of using the app as a way to connect users with each others and build a sense of community. With this we also discuss the safety aspect that exist due to families being a major part of their target audience. So we were thinking of implementing some safety features like parent consent to aid in this.


Thursday Lecturer Feedback

From our short discussion on the solution, the lecturer did advice to continue to look into what do people do in the arcade and to recognize the pattern of the users in the arcade. They did questioned the aspect of streaming due to us lacking research hence we will do some deeper research on this aspect. They also talk about the games and how do we inform which is popular and which should be changed put. We also need to think about how do we prototype this process out and how can we benefit those who play outside of Timezone
