Studio Update Week 12
Preparing for Presentation
On Monday, we had a discussion on what we wanted to present for tomorrow. On my end, I had already condensed my previous research into a few slides as shown below:
These were the additional research done to back up some of the points:

As a group however we decided to revamp the design of our slides to make it be cohesive with TImezone's identity. So we decided to structure our slides in this way:
1. Background (company + evolution)
2. Branding (vision mission values)
3. Business model
4. Market standing + SWOT
(with competitors)
5. Culture of arcade
6. The needs
7. Future trends
8. Our area of opportunity
We divided the tasks of doing the slides into this order: Zoyeewill go through the Background information and Branding, Adeline will go through the rest of our business model (Touch point) and Market standing, Celine will do the SWOT and the Culture of Arcade, and finally I will be doing the needs, future trends and area of opportunity.
From there we made our individual slides and did our script. Our Presentation slides are below:
Feedback on Tuesday
On Tuesday, we had a practise presentation with just our class and teachers. Overall the presentation went well and the context was well explain mostly. I think some minor details to change such as in our touch point to change the word entertainment to games/activities since all the touch points are basically entertainment. With the SWOT analysis, the question is what are we trying to say when we are presentating it. We need to link it back to our context and solution. Additionally, we need to articulate why Arcade Culture was important to our research. With the future trends, even though they were good, they felt out of place in the presentation and understand the lifecycle of trends. He mentioned that our opportunity was well explained but it was lacking a target audience to give it ground. In order to make our gap compelling, we have to empathise with them. Lastly, we needed to justify how we came to our solution focused on community and connection.
Fieldtrip to Timezone Wednesday (Zoyee, Adeline, Celine)
On Wednesday, Zoyee, Adeline and Celine went back to Timezone Orchad to do some more interview and shadowing of the place. Unfortunately, I wasn't available to go with them due to my tight schedule. So I just went back to the Timezone near my area to do my own research.
Update & Progress on Thursday
On Thursday, the rest of the group shared with me their key finding from their trip to Timezone, including their insights from a guy they interviewed that play the Dance Dance Revolution Game as a means of exercise. This was what they shared:

We also had a discussion on our solution. We first started by thinking through who we wanted to target as our customers. With Timezone being such a family-orientated and friend area, it was hard to narraw down exactly and we settled on targetted a broad range first. In our discussion, we also went through our feedback and slides to better understand what we were presenting and reason for it. Especially the cultural side which we needed to convey into the solutions better. Hence we decided to look into more games of the past and look at what made them popular as compared to the games of today. We noted the shift in consumer base and their needs shifting to a less skill based type of compeitition environment. As we look into the popular games now such as Mai Mai, Tokyo Drift and Pump it, we did find a similarity in that they all held a card to save their score and personalise their stats. We felt that justified the solution we thought out and gave clarity on how it could be implemented.

Additional Feedback on Thursday
We also had some additional time to consult the lecturers and to give us their feedback. Overall they were satisfied with the personalization solution. The question here is with our solution looking back to the past, are we trying to get individual to come back and practise. We need to think of how we can use the past culture to relate to our presentation and to our opportunity. We need to define the connection we want to establish as it can differ from between their own friend to other people. With the solution of personalization, it would cater to different groups of people so how does serve different people and the needs of kids.
