Studio Updates Week 9
Tuesday Feedback for Previous Assignment
On Tuesday, we were given group feedback for our previous assignment. These were their comments:
"The presentation was well contextualised with the use of rhetorical questions and observations. Alongside an insightful presentation of operational issues leading to a detailed understanding of pain points. The presentation was a joy to watch due to its clarity and flow as well as the confidence with which it was delivered. It is a convincing set of solutions, though the presentation would have benefitted from a discussion of how this particular solution would also affect the vendor as a stakeholder. The team demonstrated a good understanding of how to apply the tools and draw insights from them. It is also worth reflecting on what the other lecturers were suggesting when trying to be more imaginative with the solutions by framing the problem in varying ways."
As I look at the overall project outcome, I am quite satisfied with how things have pan out. But I do see how we initially rushed into the project and settled on a direction fast before exploring any other viable problem. This could be attributed to all of us not fully comprehending the scope of the project well and being worried about the timeline. However, I believe this project would have benefitted from a bit more exploration to allow for more opportunities for design to come in. But truly the result of the projects speaks for itself and I think that my team and I have done fantastically.
Briefing on Assignment 2
After all the groups had been given their feedback, we were given the final groupings for the next projects as well as the briefing for our next assignment. The new group members I have are Celine, Zoyee and Adeline. In the new project, we had to find an organisation and elevate its products or services to new heights through innovative and user-centric service design solutions. We needed to reimagine the organization's offerings and address its specific objectives, propelling beyond its current standing in the market.
This assignment would be displayed in an exhibition at the end of our semester with our A2 Board as well as any collectables for the project.
Discussion on the Company to select
After going through the briefing, we started our discussion on the companies we would like to drive deeper into. We started by looking at the specific industries and then at the companies in them. This is the research that we have a group discuss throughout Tuesday, and Thursday, as well as the weekends.
Research on different Companies
Feedback from lecturer
We did have a short consultation with the lecturers on Thursday. We used that to clarify some of our questions regarding the projects. In regards to the term greater heights, it can mean different things based on the company we choose. At that time we were bouncing around Roblox as a company but we were advised to get a better understanding of the business aspect of the company. We needed to do more research and see which had the greatest potential to grow. The lecturers did point out that the companies we had initially researched did have a more socially motivated cause which was a unique thinking perspective. If we are keen on following through, we should investigate companies that are interested in becoming socially motivated, and if they are not, can we make them interested in it? Key things to note when researching the company would be to understand the market, What’s the business about, Their vision, How to define the next level, and the Current context of the business.
I think through the feedback we had more clarity with the project. I think we decided to not just look into business from a social angle even though it is an interesting thought. Reason being that we had not intended our companies to be related to that and we were more focused on how and if we could bring it this company to greater heights. Hence we broaden our search a bit and decided on 3 companies to focus on.m
3 Chosen Companies
From these companies we have researched, we narrowed down to 3 choices: The Art Faculty, Timezone and Monster Energy. How we came to a consensus was deciding if we could bring these companies to greater heights within our abilities and scope.

For each of these companies, we had to do some brand research and the context of their business. We also had to define what we meant by greater height. This is our research on the topic
